I can hear this exactly as i remembered the last time i played and owned 2 of the fg 180, the forgiveness in size, the warm deep compact clean resonanance 125 a piece , my best playing then it was comfortable and just the right amount of control on top end.
What do you mean exactly by it’s forgiveness in size? I have been looking into the red labels, first being the fg75. It’s an awesome looking guitar, but it seems too small. Very boxy sounding. Would the fg180 be a good pick up, or are there any FG jumbos? Thx

Does anyone know where his Yamaha guitar went. Are has it. You can't find that out anywhere. The only one you can find is his first small guitar.
There’s currently no documentation on where it went after his death. Although it was claimed by a neighbor of his that she saw his girlfriend a few days after his death clear out his apartment they were both living at the time he was alive in the middle of the night with 2 other men, taking all kinds of equipment likely also including his Yamaha.

There’s a better imagining of this song out there with Kurt’s actual vocals which is IMO how a real studio version would have sounded. I can’t find it anymore on UA-cam though.

I have an 2016 model 850. It has a bone saddle and nut and like you the Elixer .011s - almost exclusively with a pick.. I believe this combo makes it competitive with much more expensive guitars. It almost knocks on my d28 door imo. I like this guitar a lot!
FG850 is a great guitar for the money. I tried a D28 and I think it is deeper than 850, but not everyone can buy a Martin, this is why I love Yamaha: great guitars great price.
@@Joseph_Gambardella My d28 was beat up and found in a pawn shop for $1000. I put some new bones in it and reset the neck. Like you say, the depth is notable. The next time you put strings on your 850 have some bones for it and reset the neck. It will make the 850 all it can be and you'll appreciate what a few dollars can change. The bones will increase depth and sustain.

@@paulneedham9885 I think 850s go to 2016/17, even then it depends on the love they've received dictating their condition. But yes, adjust is the term I should have used. All said, in the last four years I've bought five guitars and the 850 is one of two favorites. I'm 68 years old. And in the 1970s n early 80s I sang professionally in a regional rock band... played rythym now and then. I quit for a long while. I started up again in the last year after looking at these guitars I've bought and now collect..... still training my voice. One bought - a 2009 Hummingbird is my other favorite. I'm waiting on a pick guard for it. In my opinion the 850 is in that ballpark as far as sound goes - finish and fit is another story. I'm partial to mahogany. Maybe that is why the 850 rings with me.

What is your opinion? I have that 850 mahogany . For my ears Fg 180 is already “open “ because of ages but maybe too raw for some playing styles. And about 850 i have it for 5 years, love the mellow sound , need to give her some time to open the top wood. Anyway new 850 probably is the only one Yamaha’s all mahogany !
In my opinion depends on what type of sound you like the most. They sound very different each other, but I agree with you when you say the thing about the time. Maybe in 15 years 850 will sound better who knows. Thanks for the comment!

Do Re Mi, a última música do Kurt, semanas antes do seu suicídio, essa versão é espetacular, não é a voz dele mas tá show, pude perceber o quão incrível seria essa música se tivesse sido gravada com o resto da banda, é uma música que não se fala muito, mas é especial demais.

It’s not actually HIS guitar. Just the guitar he uses. You may of known that but I They do sound better without a pic. I use a Martin SWD, might sound better with pic but I’ve rarely used one in the 16 years I’ve been playing considering I learned how to play from non other.
